The Principality of Monaco is situated on the Mediterranean coast between the French city of Nice and the Italian city of San Remo. The small principality offers a variety of fine hotels and major sights. It is surrounded by France, with which it forms a customs and currency union. With an area of almost two square kilometers, which could be accommodated almost at the Munich Olympics grounds, it is the second smallest state in Europe after the Vatican.
